History

1883 to 1893   Spirit storage and transport through Northeastern Railways warehouses
1887   Introduction of the alcohol monopoly
Swiss government forced to set up its own alcohol storage facilities
1892   Purchase of six hectares of land (16 different owners) for the construction of a warehouse.
Cost: CHF 40 000. The following premises are built: one warehouse, three bottling shops and an administrative block
1893   Facility operative with 2.4-million-litre capacity
1900   Completion of fire-extinguishing and rail tractor systems
1902   Completion of fire well, capacity 2.4 million litres
1920   Completion of depot
1922   Completion of second warehouse
1940   Completion of fruit brandy distilling plant
1970   Completion of scale house
1975   Completion of following buildings:
workshop building, methylated spirit storage tanks / pump house, apartment building, surface tank facility, substation, garages, training facilities
1995   Partial shutdown of alcohol storage facilities
1996   Total shutdown of alcohol storage in Romanshorn
1999   Purchase negotiations between local municipality and Swiss Alcohol Board
2000   Purchase of EAV complex, 56 000 m2, by the local community
2001 / 2002   Sale of approx. 11 500 m2 to Vision Kunsteisbahn Oberthurgau AG for the construction of an ice rink and outdoor sports facilities
2005   Sale of the workshop facilities with a land share of approx. 3200 m2 to Elektrizitätswerk Romanshorn
2007   Sale of part of the complex, approx. 31 500 m2, including spirit storage facilities 1 to 3, unloading plant, train depot, Polygon building, tank and undeveloped land to the investors of ALIM Erlen AG and Roos Walter
