autobau AG in Romanshorn is a company where everything revolves around enthusiasm for cars and motor racing and which brings this fascination to life for visitors. It is unique in its nature and liveliness.
At autobau AG, the fascination of cars is at the heart of everything we do. On the disused industrial site, it combines an atmospheric car museum, which is also part of a unique event location in Switzerland on Lake Constance - the autobau erlebniswelt. There is also the autobau Factory, a modern commercial center for automotive businesses, and the autobau Carlounge with its professional alarm-secured parking spaces. The high-quality refurbished facility - the old tank farm in Romanshorn - offers an exciting backdrop in a Swiss city with an important transport history.
Car museum with passion
The idea of founding autobau AG came to car enthusiast and passionate racing driver Fredy Lienhard through a key experience. When he gave a tour of his private car collection to children from a fourth-grade class at their request and told a personal story about many of the cars, he was amazed and delighted by the children's enthusiasm and joy. This experience gave Fredy Lienhard the idea of making his collection accessible to the public and allowing others to experience the fascination of cars and motor racing. Design, technology and racing you can touch was and is his motto.
Spectacular car collection on Lake Constance
The centerpiece of autobau AG is the incredible car collection of Fredy Lienhard, a Swiss entrepreneur and racing driver and founder of the company. The racing cars, sports cars, classic cars and vintage cars are presented in the five exhibition halls of the autobau erlebniswelt with a total of eight exhibition areas in an extremely stylish way and with a lot of motorsport flair. The car show is unique and is located in the direct catchment area of St. Gallen, Winterthur, Zurich and Kreuzlingen as well as Constance, but also Baden-Württemberg, Bavaria and Vorarlberg.
The autobau world of experience is the heart of autobau AG. It features a car exhibition with around 120 spectacular road sports cars and racing cars as well as classic and vintage cars from Fredy Lienhard’s car collection and is also an event location.
The autobau Factory is an automotive competence center for high-quality repairs to exclusive and normal cars in Switzerland. At the same time, it is a well-established port of call for vintage cars, classic cars, youngtimers and racing cars.
The autobau carlounge is located in the basement of the autobau factory. There are 80 alarm-protected parking spaces with optimal climatic and spatial conditions on around 1900 square meters.
You can also reach the autobau erlebniswelt from Germany and Austria without a Swiss highway toll sticker. Free visitor parking is available on the autobau AG site.
